What Diner Dash and Cake Mania Fans Play Next: 8 Picks From Our Players
If you loved Diner Dash or Cake Mania, you already know the feeling we are talking about: three customers waiting, one losing hearts fast, and you planning your next four clicks before the first one lands. So we asked a simple question. What do players who bought Diner Dash or Cake Mania on GameFools buy next?
We looked at three years of our own orders. The answer starts where you would guess and then gets more interesting.
First Stop: The Sequels
About 1 in 5 Diner Dash and Cake Mania players also picked up Diner Dash 2: Restaurant Rescue, and nearly as many grabbed Diner Dash: Flo on the Go. Jill's later bakeries are close behind: Cake Mania 2, the time-travelling Cake Mania 3 (Jill has to fix a time machine to save her own wedding day) and the 1980s throwback Cake Mania: To the Max.
If you have not played those yet, start there. Our guides to every Cake Mania game and games like Diner Dash will tell you which one to pick. This list is for the moment after that, when you have finished Flo's and Jill's stories and want a new counter to run.
1. Burger Island
The most popular next step by a clear margin. Burger Island hands you Patty's rundown burger stand on the shore and 60 levels to turn it into the busiest spot on the beach. You build every order yourself, patty, bun and toppings, while the line grows and the patience meters shrink.
It is Cake Mania's assembly line with a grill instead of an oven. The early levels feel almost too easy, then the menu grows and you are stacking three burgers at once while a drink order waits. Between levels you add grills and soda machines, and each upgrade changes how you plan the next rush. If you get stuck, our Burger Island tips help.
Try it if Cake Mania was your favorite. Skip it if you liked Diner Dash for the seating puzzle, because there are no tables here.
2. Nanny Mania
Nanny Mania swaps the restaurant for a house with four kids and two busy parents. Messes appear, meals need cooking, laundry piles up, and every job has to be done before the clock runs out.
This one surprised us with how close it plays to Diner Dash. Instead of tables you have rooms, and instead of customers you have a family who all want something right now. The difference is that nothing waits politely in a queue. A spill in the kitchen keeps spreading while you are upstairs, so you learn to fix the thing that will get worse first.
Try it if you want Diner Dash's "where do I walk next" puzzle in a new setting. It is a little more chaotic than Flo's diner, which is the point.
3. Delicious: Cooking and Romance
The Delicious series is where a lot of Diner Dash fans settle for good, and Delicious: Cooking and Romance is the entry our players buy most. A Hollywood crew comes to Snuggford to film a romantic comedy, and Emily has to keep her diner running while helping the movie succeed.
The service loop will feel familiar within a level: seat, take the order, cook, serve, clear. What keeps you playing is the family story. Emily's sister Angela is torn between her long-time partner and a glamorous new suitor, and her daughter Paige has her first crush. You end up playing "one more level" to see what happens next, not just for the score.
Try it if you liked Cake Mania's story about Jill and want a lot more of that. Compared to Burger Island, it is less about speed and more about following characters you get attached to.
4. Delicious: Mansion Mystery
In Delicious: Mansion Mystery, Emily is catering an engagement party at a grand country estate when someone is poisoned, and suspicion falls on her friend Francois. So you cook for the guests and hunt for clues at the same time.
There are 60 story levels plus 30 bonus challenges, and mini-games that turn up evidence between shifts. If you enjoy a whodunit as much as a dinner rush, this is the Delicious game to play next, and you do not need to have played the others to follow it.
Try it if you want time management with a mystery attached. Pick Cooking and Romance instead if you would rather keep things light.
5. Sally's Salon
Sally's Salon takes the Diner Dash formula to a hair salon. Clients walk in, you move them from wash to cut to color to styling, and you get them out happy before patience runs thin. Across 50 levels Sally works her way from a shopping mall salon all the way to Hollywood.
Each client is a little route through your stations, so it scratches the same itch as moving Flo between tables. You also hire staff and buy upgrades between levels, which means you are planning tomorrow's shift as well as surviving today's.
Try it if you love the Diner Dash loop but are tired of food. If you like Sally, Sally's Spa follows the same pattern.
6. Burger Island 2: The Missing Ingredient
Players who finish Burger Island tend to come straight back for Burger Island 2: The Missing Ingredient. This time you are cooking burgers and omelets while searching the islands for the legendary Great Sauce, collecting rare ingredients as you go.
The counter work is the same fast stacking you learned in the first game, with more recipes and power-ups to lean on when a rush gets out of hand. Play the first one before this; the sequel assumes you already know your way around a grill.
7. Babysitting Mania
Babysitting Mania sends a brand new babysitter into 20 homes full of mischievous kids. You clean up, plan birthday parties and keep the children busy with mini-games, all against the clock.
If Nanny Mania clicked, this is its closest cousin. The difference is variety: every house is a new family with new trouble, so you rarely settle into a routine. That makes it more unpredictable than Nanny Mania, and a bit more frantic.
8. Jojo's Fashion Show
Jojo's Fashion Show is the wildcard on this list, and our players clearly love it anyway. Models line up backstage, you pick outfits that match each show's theme, and you send them down the runway before the audience loses interest, all while Jojo's rival Rosalind tries to steal the spotlight.
The clock pressure is pure Cake Mania, but the decisions are about taste instead of recipes. There is no single right outfit, so each show is a small creative choice made in a hurry. You earn coins to spend in Jojo's Boutique, which unlocks more pieces to work with.
Try it if you want something completely different that still feels like a time management game.
How These Compare to Diner Dash and Cake Mania
Pacing first: Burger Island, its sequel and Babysitting Mania keep you clicking with almost no pause, while the two Delicious games slow down between levels for story. The thinking is different too. Nanny Mania, Babysitting Mania and Sally's Salon are about routes, like Diner Dash: where do I go next? Burger Island is about sequencing, like Cake Mania: what do I start next? Jojo adds taste to the mix. And in every one of them you are making the calls yourself; nobody is waiting on a timer while nothing happens.
